Net Asset Value (NAV)
The per-unit price of a mutual fund scheme.
Definition
Net Asset Value (NAV) is the per-unit market value of a mutual fund scheme. It is the total value of the fund's holdings minus its liabilities, divided by the number of outstanding units, and is published at the end of each business day.
Formula
NAV = (Total Assets − Total Liabilities) / Number of Units Outstanding Example
If a fund's portfolio is worth ₹100 crore with 5 crore units, its NAV is ₹20. If you invest ₹10,000, you receive 500 units.
